Coronavirus woes push down export prices for Chinese wire rod

Chinese wire rod export prices dropped over the past week with sellers coming under pressure to secure overseas orders due to weak domestic demand caused by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for March/April shipments of steel wire rod (mesh quality) export, fob China main port was $465-470 per tonne on Tuesday February 11, down by $20 per tonne from $485-490 per tonne on February 4.
