Ferro-chrome prices in Europe up on tightening supply

The market for high-carbon ferro-chrome delivered into Europe strengthened for the fifth consecutive week on Friday February 21 in response to tightening supply and despite the weak stainless-steel sector.

Fastmarkets’ assessment of the ferro-chrome high carbon 6-8.5% C, basis 60-70% Cr, max 1.5% Si, delivered Europe price rose 1-3 cents per lb week on week to $0.87-1 per lb on Friday February 21.
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has hampered the logistics of moving material into Europe, market participants said.

“It’s difficult to get containers and places on ships because so much is stuck in China, which means it’s tricky to operate in the current market,” one producer said....
