EUROPE SECTIONS: Weak demand subdues price movement

The prices for hollow steel sections in Northern and Southern Europe were unchanged this week due to weak demand in the spot market, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday March 4.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel sections (medium), domestic, delivered Northern Europe was €620-650 ($691-724) per tonne on Wednesday, unchanged week on week.
Market participants reported that demand was poor, which was keeping the Northern steel sections price flat despite the rising cost of hot-rolled coil, the main feedstock material.
