US structural tubing price slips; logistical concerns grow

Prices for structural tubing in the United States widened lower on Thursday March 12 after posting modest gains the week before, while market participants have been trying to mitigate the risks of possible disruption due to the novel coronavirus.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel hollow sections ASTM A500 Grade B domestic, fob mill US decreased by $10 at the low end to $850-900 per short ton ($42.50-45 per hundredweight) on Thursday. The assessment is down by 15.9% from $1,020-1,060 per ton one year ago.
