EUROPE BEAMS: Trading disrupted by virus lockdowns but prices hold firm

The price for steel H-beams in Europe was unchanged in the week ended Wednesday March 18, despite the disruption in the markets caused by the spread of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus throughout the continent, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel beams, domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €535-570 ($598-637) per tonne on Wednesday, unchanged week on week.
The coronavirus infection has spread across most of mainland Europe, with many countries now closing their borders. Although commercial traffic was still allowed to pass through, delays to deliveries have been heard.
