Brazilian steel industry operating normally but confidence down, Aço Brasil says

The Brazilian steel sector is operating "at normal levels", despite a decrease in confidence because of the spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), national steel association Aço Brasil said.

"At the moment, the Brazilian steel industry is operating normally, with supply of raw materials, production and sales at normal levels," the association’s executive president Marco Polo de Mello Lopes said on Thursday March 19.

The confidence index for the Brazilian steel sector stood at 37.40 points in March, down from 70.20 in February. A reading below 50 indicates a lack of confidence in the industry, according to the association....
