TURKEY FLAT STEEL: Prices drop amid scarce bookings

Flat steel prices decreased in Turkey during the week to Friday March 20, on weak demand and fears of further spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the country.

Turkey announced 359 cases of the virus this week and there have been four deaths so far.
In addition, a sharp fall in scrap prices raised expectations of global steel prices decreasing further, Turkish sources said.
Fastmarkets’ daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), Northern Europe origin, cfr Turkey, dropped to $241.63 per tonne on March 19, from $265.53 per tonne on March 13.
