Indian secondary billet prices down $12 on weak demand

Weak demand for semi-finished steel from finished product makers, and falls in the prices of raw materials, pulled down the domestic price for secondary steel billet in India by 900 rupees ($12) per tonne in the week ended Friday March 20.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for steel billet, domestic, exw India, was 26,500-26,700 rupees ($339-354) per tonne on Friday, compared with the previous week’s assessment at 27,400-27,600 rupees per tonne.
