Bushveld Minerals shuts mines after South Africa enters 21-day lockdown

Vanadium producer Bushveld Minerals is to shut all its mining operations on care and maintenance from March 26 after South Africa imposed a 21-day lockdown to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

South African president Cyril Ramaphosa announced the lockdown on Monday March 23, stating it would run from midnight on March 26 until April 16.
All of the country’s mines and smelters will be required to cease operations during the period, Fastmarkets understands.
