SSAB adds detail to plans for steelmaking output cuts in Finland, Sweden

Swedish steelmaker SSAB has released further details of its plans to shorten working hours and reduce output at its sites in Finland and Sweden due to the impact of the Covid-2019 virus.

Earlier this week, SSAB said the drastic decline in end-user demand for flat steel in Europe, especially from the automotive industry, meant it would be forced to reduce output from its operations in Finland and Sweden.
The company runs three plants in Finland (Raahe, Hämeenlinna and Kankaanpaa) and four in Sweden (Oxelösund, Luleå, Borlänge and Finspang).
