EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices stable but falls likely

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil in Northern Europe have been stable day on day but were expected to decrease due to poor demand, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday April 3.

Fastmarkets’ daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, was unchanged at €470.00 ($512.11) per tonne on Friday.
Friday’s index was calculated based on offers and “achievable” prices heard at €460-475 per tonne ex-works.
Demand in the region has been poor due to slowdowns and closures in steel-consuming industries across Europe, as part of the measures taken to try to control the Covid-19 pandemic. In particular, a large number of automotive manufacturers have temporarily stopped operations.
