EUROPE WIRE ROD: Buying slows down ahead of Easter but sentiment bullish

Prices in Europe for steel wire rod were flat this week, with the market slowing down ahead of the long Easter weekend break, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday April 8.

Most trading activity was seen this week in the North of Europe, with prices largely stable week on week.
“Construction is still active in Germany, [and] work on Austrian highways has been allowed since about 10 days ago, as long as certain security measures are respected,” one trader said.
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €450-470 ($489-511) per tonne on April 8, unchanged week on week.

Market participants expected to see more buying activity after Easter...
