China ferro-silicon export prices fall to 43-month low

The Chinese ferro-silicon export price plunged in the week to Wednesday April 8 after major suppliers slashed their offers to stimulate overseas demand, which has been dampened amid the Covid-19 pandemic, sources said.

Fastmarkets’ assessment for ferro-silicon 75% Si min export, fob China was $1,050-1,100 per tonne on Wednesday, down by 5.7% from $1,130-1,150 per tonne the previous week and at its lowest point since September 2016.

During the week, a 100-tonne deal was reported at $1,050 per tonne fob China, breaking the silence in China’s export market, which had not moved since March due to an absence of trading activity....
