QB2 construction suspension costing Teck Resources up to $50mln per month

A one-month construction suspension at Teck Resources' Quebrada Blanca 2 copper mine in Chile is expected to cost the company at least $75 million, a figure set to rise if further delays are incurred.

Teck stopped work at QB2 in mid-March, one of many mining companies to suspend construction projects, which tend to rely on an international workforce, due to movement restrictions put in place to stop the Covid-19 virus spreading.

The financial impact in the month since then is $75 million, which is expected to rise to $125 million...
