Tisco increases May ferro-chrome tender price by 250 yuan per tonne

China’s Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Tisco) has raised its ferro-chrome tender price for May delivery due to higher chrome ore prices caused by supply disruptions amid South Africa’s Covid-19 lockdown.

On Tuesday April 28, Tisco announced its monthly tender price for high-carbon ferro-chrome at 5,700 yuan ($804) per tonne on a duty-paid basis, including delivery for May. The latest tender is 250 yuan more than the 5,450 yuan per tonne price in April, Fastmarkets understands.

The higher tender price was supported by the supply chain disruptions in South Africa, market participants said.
