China's auto sales in April snap 21 months of decreases

China’s automotive sector registered its first year-on-year sales increase after 21 months in April thanks to the Covid-19 outbreak in the country coming under control, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said.

The country sold 2.07 million vehicles last month, up by 4.4% year on year and 43.5% higher month on month, the association said earlier this week.
Output rose by 2.3% on the year to 2.10 million vehicles. This 46.6% higher than in March, the CAAM said.
