CIS FLAT STEEL: Market activity low on uncertainty in key outlets

Activity in the export market for flat steel products from the Commonwealth of Independent States was low during the week ended Tuesday May 26 due to uncertainty in the key outlet regions, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, export, fob Black Sea, CIS, was $350-365 per tonne on Tuesday, widening upward from $350-360 per tonne a week earlier.
“There is some increase in local demand in Turkey, but there was a long weekend [on May 24-26], so a lot of people wanted to wait and see whether the improvement would last,” one trader said.
The Eid al-Fitr religious holiday in Turkey ended on May 26.
