China’s tungsten market static amid weak demand

Prices for tungsten concentrate in China were steady this week, with sellers’ attempts to raise their offers meeting resistance from downstream ammonium paratungstate (APT) consumers.

At the same time, the firm price for concentrate provided support to the downstream APT market amid limited trading activity.
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for tungsten concentrate 65% WO3, in-whs China was 80,000-83,000 yuan ($11,170-11,589) per tonne on Wednesday May 27, unchanged from a week earlier.
“The tungsten concentrate price has stopped rising recently because downstream APT plants couldn’t accept any prices higher than 83,000 yuan per tonne. I heard limited volumes were traded between 80,000-81,000 yuan per tonne,” a trader said.
