CFIA calls on domestic manganese alloy producers to curtail output

The China Ferroalloy Industry Association’s (CFIA) manganese department asked domestic manganese alloy producers to either suspend or cut output on Thursday May 28 due to some alloy suppliers, which consume portside ore, suffering losses because of relatively high ore prices, market sources said.

The department suggested that domestic manganese alloy producers that 100% depend on spot ore cargoes completely halt production while those producers that rely on half spot cargoes and half seaborne cargoes cut their output by 50% in a bid to curb the excess capacity of alloy products.
