Brazil's Gerdau to restart blast furnace at Ouro Branco on July 1

Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau will restart its No2 blast furnace (BF) at the Ouro Branco mill, located in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais on July 1, a company spokesperson told Fastmarkets on Monday June 22.

The company's initial expectations were to resume operations between the end of June and the beginning of July, chief executive officer Gustavo Werneck said on May 6. This came after all the previously stopped electric arc furnaces and rolling activities in the country had already resumed.
