EUROPE BEAMS: Market moves down on tepid demand [CORRECTED]

The price for steel H-beams in Northern Europe widened on Wednesday June 24, with demand tapering off but mills still unwilling to lower their prices, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel beams, domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €510-550 ($576-621) per tonne on Wednesday, widening downward from €520-550 per tonne a week earlier.
Feedstock prices have remained steady in recent weeks, and some producers said that they were looking to test price increases of as much as €20 per tonne in the coming weeks, although some market sources doubted that they would succeed.
“The mills are not fully booked [because] there is not much going on at the moment,” a trader said.
