US structural tubing price slips again; demand outlook mixed

The price for hollow structural sections (HSS) in the United States fell further on Thursday June 25, with market participants sharing mixed demand outlooks while some tube mills seem to have rescinded earlier price increases.

“The market is soft, and I think next week will be very slow. I think after the July 4 [US Independence Day] holiday, if we don’t see somewhat of an increase in demand, the price will go lower,” one steel distributor said on Thursday. “Any [tube] mills who are at a high price [from the increases] haven’t woken up from their dream world.”
