Seaborne Mn ore prices continue downtrend on slow buying before holiday

Seaborne prices for both low and high-grade manganese ore in China continued to drift lower on slow liquidity and persistent weak sentiment in the week to Friday June 26 after Chinese market participants were absent from the market due to the country’s Dragon Boat Festival over June 25-27, sources said.

Fastmarkets’ manganese ore index, 37% Mn, cif Tianjin fell to $4.55 per dry metric tonne unit (dmtu) on June 26, down by 14 cents or 3% from $4.69 per dmtu on June 19.
Fastmarkets’ manganese ore index, 37% Mn, fob Port Elizabeth dropped by 10 cents or 2.5% to $3.94 per dmtu on the same day, from $4.04 per dmtu on June 19.
Fastmarkets calculated the manganese ore index, 44% Mn, cif Tianjin at $5.02 per dmtu on June 26, down by 8 cents or 1.6% from $5.10 per dmtu on June 19.
