US line pipe prices lower; OCTG unchanged

Prices for electric-resistance welded (ERW) line pipe in the United States mostly moved lower in June, while those for oil country tubular goods (OCTG) remained unchanged due to a continued lag in demand and oversupply in the oil and gas market.

“I can’t say the situation has improved at all; activity levels are probably flat but flat being pretty slow. We have basically seen a decrease in our shipments month over month,” a producer said. “The first quarter of the year was pretty good, April and May were down and June is going to be down even more.” But the producer did note one bright spot in the domestic line pipe market. “There still seems to be some activity from utility companies in areas where construction has kept up, there are some smaller line pipe projects going...
