Export prices for Chinese CRC, HDG continue ascent despite souring sentiment

Export prices for Chinese cold-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized coil continued to rise in the past week despite deteriorating sentiment in the Asian flat steel market.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil export, fob China was $510-520 per tonne on Tuesday July 28, up by $5 per tonne from $505-515 per tonne a week earlier.
Chinese mills raised their CRC offers by $5 per tonne during the week to $535 per tonne fob.
Traders concluded transactions at $510-520 per tonne fob China during the period, but steel mills were not willing to cede discounts to direct buyers and traders.
