US Department of Commerce launches trade case on pipe

The United States Department of Commerce has launched anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) investigations - some alleging triple-digit margins - into seamless standard, line and pressure pipe imports from four nations.

The anti-dumping probes target seamless tubular products from the Czech Republic, Russia, South Korea and Ukraine.
Russia and South Korea in addition face countervailing duties investigations, according to a Commerce press release dated Wednesday July 29.

The trade case was officially initiated on Tuesday July 28, according to government records and stems from a petition filed on July 8 by Houston-based Vallourec Star LP, a subsidiary of French energy tubular producer...
