China’s tungsten concentrate, APT prices continue to rise

China’s tungsten market strengthened further this week, with prices for concentrate and ammonium paratungstate (APT) both continuing to rise following a prolonged period of consolidation at low levels.

Market sources told Fastmarkets that transactions for APT were being concluded at around 126,000 yuan ($17,993) per tonne this week, while offers of around 127,000-129,000 yuan per tonne are becoming more and more prominent.
This compares with last week when business was being done at around 125,000 yuan per tonne, after having consolidated around 120,000 yuan per tonne for approximately a month before that.
Participants were optimistic about the outlook for APT prices in China, expecting them to continue to rise in the short term due to scheduled maintenance halts at domestic APT plants in July and August.
