US structural tubing market eyes discounts, further price drops

Prices for hollow structural sections (HSS) in the United States fell for the fifth week in a row on Thursday August 13, while sources indicated that discounts were available for large-tonnage deals and predicted that prices would decline further this month.

“The market continues to be soft. I think tube mills thought if they didn't lower [prices], end users would shy away from buying,” one distributor said. “This is a way to keep momentum in the market moving."
