US finished steel imports plummet in August

Finished steel imports into the United States plummeted month on month and year on year in August, with semi-finished inflows dropping sharply while arrivals of flat-rolled steel and rebar slowed as well, according to license data from the US Department of Commerce’s Enforcement and Compliance division.

US imports of blooms, billets and slabs fell by a whopping 91.5% month on month after Brazilian exporters exhausted their shipment quota under Section 232 earlier in the third quarter, Commerce figures show.
