NEWSBREAK: Rio Tinto CEO, iron ore boss to quit over destruction of Aboriginal caves

Rio Tinto chief executive officer Jean-Sebastien Jacques and iron ore head Chris Salisbury are to step down following criticism over the miner’s destruction of sacred Aboriginal caves in Pilbara, Western Australia.

Jacques will remain as chief executive until March 31 or until a successor is appointed, while Salisbury will step down immediately and leave Rio Tinto on December 31 this year.

Ivan Vella, Rio Tinto’s managing director for rail, port and core services, will replace Salisbury on an interim basis. Vella was previously chief operating officer for Rio Tinto's coal business....
