EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices rise further on limited local, imported supply

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil jumped week on week across Europe on Wednesday September 16, driven by reduced output from domestic steelmakers and limited availability of imported coil, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets calculated the daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, at €482.62 ($572.80) per tonne on Wednesday, up by €5.64 per tonne day on day from €476.98 per tonne on Tuesday.
The index was up by €6.37 per tonne week on week and by €63.45 per tonne month on month.
Wednesday’s index was based on deals heard at €470-500 per tonne ex-works, achievable prices reported at €480-490 per tonne ex-works and official offers at €470-500 per tonne ex-works.

Some of the region’s steelmakers have been offering HRC at prices as high as €520-530 per tonne. These offers were not included in the index, however, because no deals have been confirmed at that price....
