Tight concentrate supply continues to support tungsten prices; ferro-tungsten climbs to 4-month high

Prices for ammonium paratungstate (APT) and ferro-tungsten in Europe and the United States were firm to higher in the week to Friday September 18, supported by stronger concentrate prices and tightening supply from China.

The European ferro-tungsten market hit a four-month high on Friday. Fastmarkets assessed the ferro-tungsten basis 75% W, in-whs dup Rotterdam price at $24.50-26.50 per kg, up from the midweek assessment of $24.10-26.20 per kg and compared with $23.85-25 per kg a week ago. The market is now trading at its highest since the end of June.
