US East Coast ferrous scrap export market subdued on Turkish mills' silence

The United States' East Coast ferrous scrap export market has gone quiet, with Turkey absent from buying cargoes for two weeks and recyclers operating at docks maintaining prices.

Turkey has been absent from the international market since September 9, when it bought an 80:20 mix of No1 and No2 heavy melting scrap (HMS) from the US for $301 per tonne.

There have been unconfirmed rumors that Turkey bought some scrap from the United Kingdom, with the HMS 1&2 (80:20) component priced at $290 per tonne, but no...
