EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices keep rising on short availability, bullish scrap

Domestic steel mesh-quality wire rod prices in Europe continued moving up in the week to Wednesday September 30, backed by short supplies and high scrap costs, sources told Fastmarkets.

Northern Europe
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe was €480-490 ($562-573) per tonne on Wednesday, up from €460-480 per tonne delivered last week.
Producers managed to achieve €480 per tonne delivered in deals last week and set a new target for October of €490-500 per tonne, sources said.

The upper end of offers was not included in the assessment because no deals have been reported at this level yet. However, sources said they do believe that price could be achieved...
