EUROPE REBAR: Prices steady, new rises unlikely as demand hits plateau

Domestic steel rebar prices in Europe were largely stable in the week to Wednesday October 14, with market participants expecting no further increases during the fourth quarter amid flattening demand, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, delivered Southern Europe was €450-460 ($530-541) per tonne on October 14, unchanged from the week before.
This week, rebar in Italy was trading at €410-420 per tonne ex-works, flat week on week. This is equivalent to about €450-460 per tonne delivered.
"The market is quite flat and producers do not want to move from the price they have reached," one trader said.
