EUROPE BEAMS: Prices stabilize as producer-led increases fail to stick

The price of steel H-beams in Europe was unchanged this week with previously announced price increases from mills not being applied, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday October 14.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel beams, domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €540-570 ($636-671) per tonne on Wednesday, unchanged week on week.
In recent weeks, beam producers have announced - and pushed for - price increases of €15-30 per tonne on good demand and increased feedstock prices, but the market appears to have remained stable.
“[European] scrap dealers are not willing to sell at lower prices. Overall, the market demand for finished steel products, and sentiment, are very strong,” a European mill source said.
