TAIWAN STEEL SCRAP: Buyers opt for domestic scrap instead of costly imports

Scrap buyers in Taiwan are opting to use more domestic ferrous scrap for charging their electric-arc furnaces instead of purchasing costlier imported cargoes, industry sources said.

Fastmarkets’ daily price assessment for containerized cargoes of steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20), US material import, cfr main port Taiwan was $282-283 per tonne on Friday October 30, unchanged from the previous day and up by $3-7 per tonne from $275-280 per tonne on October 23.
