Italy's October crude steel output down on slow lockdown recovery

Crude steel output in Italy dropped by 4.64% year-on-year in October 2020, mainly due to lower flat steel production, Italian steel association Federacciai said on Thursday November 19.

The country’s crude steel production amounted to 2.12 million tonnes in October, down from 2.22 million tonnes in the corresponding month of 2019.
Flat steel output, meanwhile, dropped by 11.98% year-on-year to 882,000 tonnes in October, Federacciai said.

The decrease was partly explained by the fact that Italian flat steel producer Arvedi had a delayed restart to its furnace in the middle...
