GLOBAL LITHIUM WRAP: China lithium carbonate prices extend gains; hydroxide weakens

Chinese battery-grade lithium carbonate prices moved up by 1.2% week on week on Thursday November 19 with producers raising offers on tight spot supply while the battery-grade lithium hydroxide spot price edged down amid limited domestic demand.

More Chinese lithium carbonate producers continued raising offer prices this week and were unwilling to sell at lower prices as a result of current tight supply and optimistic sentiment due to the recovery in downstream demand.
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for lithium carbonate, 99.5% Li2CO3 min, battery grade, spot price range exw domestic China was 40,000-42,000 yuan per tonne ($6,088-6,392) on Thursday November 19, up from 40,000-41,000 yuan per tonne the previous week.
