SOUTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices edge up on short supply, good demand

Steel wire rod prices in the south of Europe have moved up over the past seven days, pushed by short availability and with a new round of increases expected for December, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday November 25.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Southern Europe, was €490-495 ($581-587) per tonne on Wednesday, up from €480-490 per tonne a week before.
The assessment reflected deals, offers and achievable prices heard in the market over the past week.

Italian producers were reported to have closed December bookings for steel mesh-quality wire rod at €490 per tonne delivered, and were looking to raise their prices for January deliveries, sources said.
