The LME three-month price for the red metal was at $7,372 per tonne as of 9:05am, but its high of $7,410 per tonne in early trading meant it had surpassed prices last reached in January 2014.
LME copper’s price had increased by 0.98% from Wednesday’s closing price of $7,300 per tonne and was up by 2.7% from Monday’s closing price of $7,177.50 per tonne.
Going back to the start of November, LME three-month copper closed at $6,773 per tonne on November 2, which means the three-month price has increased by almost 9% since then.
