Blister copper market still awaiting outcome of annual RC talks with one eye on spot terms cif China

Chinese copper smelter Jiangxi Copper and Zambian producer Chambishi (CCS) continue to negotiate the annual blister copper refining charge (RC) for 2021, with a gap of at least $15 per tonne still to bridge, Fastmarkets learned.

The 2021 contractual RC, seen as benchmark for the copper intermediate product, is yet to be confirmed after talks began three weeks ago.
The two parties signed a 2020 supply contract in mid-December last year at a RC of $128 per tonne cif China, the lowest in five years.
