China CRC, HDG export prices dip on weakening domestic market

Export prices for Chinese cold-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized coil fell in the past week amid a weakening domestic market in China.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, export, fob China main port was $740-750 per tonne on Tuesday January 19, down by $10-15 per tonne from $750-765 per tonne cfr a week earlier.
A Hong Kong-based trader said he had bought some CRC from the Chinese mainland at around $750 per tonne last week and later resold the cargo to Southeast Asia.
He said he was able to secure CRC at $740 per tonne fob from a few private mills that were aiming to increase their exports amid a weakening of domestic demand.
