CHINA REBAR: Pre-holiday lull drives down domestic, export prices

Chinese rebar prices decreased in both domestic and export markets on Wednesday January 20 due to softer end-user demand ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 4,260-4,280 yuan ($659-662) per tonne, down by 40-50 yuan per tonne
More construction sites have suspended operations this week to take early holidays for Chinese New Year on February 12, sources said.
Additionally, trading houses were inactive in replenishing rebar stock due to the weaker end-user demand.
