RUSSIA FLAT STEEL: Prices soften on slower buying, weaker exports

The domestic flat steel market in Russia’s Central Federal District around Moscow declined in the week to Monday January 25 under pressure from slow buying and a downtrend in the export outlet markets, sources told Fastmarkets.

Hot-rolled sheet
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled (HR) sheet, domestic, cpt Moscow, Russia, declined on Monday to 64,000-65,000 roubles ($850-863) per tonne including 20% value-added tax, from 65,000-67,000 roubles per tonne last week.
Offers from Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), one of the major suppliers to the region, were heard at 65,000 roubles per tonne for traders, sources said. The producer was said to have given no price for stockists.
