GCC Technical Secretariat recommends safeguard duty on range of steel imports

The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) has seen a recent and sudden increase in the imports of certain steel products and believes that these could pose a threat to domestic industry, according to a document seen by Fastmarkets dated Monday February 15.

The determination was made by the GCC’s Bureau of Technical Secretariat for Anti Injurious Practices in International Trade (GCC-TSAIP). The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The group began an investigation into steel imports in October 2019, with preliminary results announced in July 2020.
