NORTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices firm despite buyers' push for cuts

Domestic prices for mesh-quality steel wire rod in Northern Europe have been broadly stable over the past week, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday February 17.

Customers were pushing for price decreases because of lower scrap costs in the region but mills were keeping their offers firm, on good order books.
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €660-680 ($801-825) per tonne on Wednesday, narrowing downward from €660-690 per tonne last week.
The assessment was based on deals and achievable prices reported by market participants over the past seven days.
