EXCLUSIVE: China's top copper smelter plans production cut – sources
China Copper plans to cut its refined copper production in light of concentrate processing charges that have fallen to multi year lows, Fastmarkets learned.
Copper smelting activity across the company’s plants has scaled down after the Chinese New Year holiday, Fastmarkets confirmed with a top-level company source and two of its major suppliers of copper concentrate.
The exact reduction in copper output at each plant will depend on the specific operational conditions of the plants located across China. A survey will be conducted later across different operations, the company source said.
