Paul Wurth is part of equipment provider SMS Group and has a partnership with hydrogen technology provider Sunfire, while SHS owns German steelmakers Dillinger and Saarstahl.
Under the agreement, the companies will assess the development of a 1GW hydrogen electrolysis plant and a 2 million-tonnes-per-year direct reduced iron (DRI) plant next to Liberty’s Alvance Aluminium site in Dunkirk.
Liberty
