The country produced 197,035 units in February, down from 204,206 units year on year. This is the lowest level recorded since 170,700 units in July 2020 - when the industry was still recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic - and the weakest February figures since 2016.
According to the Anfavea president, Luiz Carlos Moraes, the decrease was a result of lower exports and some raw material supply disruption to auto facilities. For example, a few manufacturing sites had to close temporarily due to a worldwide chip shortage
